Reading: Behavior exposure，研究发现当孩子们害怕做什么事情的时候，给他们鼓励，并且在他们做了这个事情以后给予奖励，他们就不会再怕了。

Listening: 授讲自己的经验。说他儿子刚搬到LA的时候想跟当地的小朋友玩，但是又怕他们不接受。他就鼓励他儿子说，你去对面买冰欺凌吃吧，去的时候跟他们说HI，然后他儿子说了，人家也回了Hi， 他就回来的时候鼓励他去称赞一下人家的自行车。他儿子又说了，然后那些小朋友很开心的说对啊对啊。 然后一会他儿子就说要和它们一起去玩自行车了。

Reading: 女生说遇到一个麻烦事，她上了一个艺术课，clay 做 bowl啥的，她之前一直很顺利，后来她想把花放到她做成的bowl or bottle里，结果不小心打碎了，几天后就要交给教授。

Solutions: 1.她可以把它粘好。因为碎片很大。但是老师会发现，分数会不高的;2.她可以现在开始重新做。有两天时间。她还有其他功课要复习。

Reading: 学校在考试复习期间举办某娱乐活动，期间取消校内公交车，有人不满给校长写信，1.噪音影响在宿舍复习的人，2.取消校内公交车对要乘车的人很不方便。

Listening: 对话中女生认为这两个理由都没有说服力。首先要看书的人可以去图书馆看，不一定非要在宿舍，图书馆很安静。其次学校很小，去哪里都可以步行，不行横穿学校只要30分钟，况且公交车只取消几个小时而已，no big deal.

Reading: Aggressive recruiting即商家在推广期间给与顾客一些实惠，积累顾客，推广期过后开始收费增加收入。

Listening: 举了一个gym的例子在说明这种策略的有效性。具体是，gym在推广期让消费者免费获得健身指导，一个月以后取消免费政策，结果大部分人都继续使用该服务，于是增加了gym的customer basis，是有效的。

Problem: 女生要在校报发表一篇paper，但文章写得too long to publish.

Solutions: 男编辑给他两个方案：1. cut off the paper / make it shorter就能立即出版。但女生觉得每个部分都很重要，不愿意cut，要弄短就只能Summarize了。2.到暑期版summer issue上发表publish.女生不太愿意，因为暑假大家都放假了，没人看得到。

Lecture: 不能自身移动的海底sea bottom动物dwellers（居民）获得食物的方法feed有两种：第一种、active method：举例：海葵sea anemone伪装成植物，寄生在其他动物身上，寄主又会放毒液，这样sea anemone就能捕住食物了。第二种、passive method，举例：牡蛎Oyster，不动。坐等海水流把微生物tiny material送到嘴边。

Reading:现在的Modern literature课越来越popular，有些大学就采取了两个方法让更多的同学enroll。1. 把小教室换成大教室；2.把课时加到晚上，让更多的人来听。

Listening:一男一女，男的不同意学校的方法，理由是小教室更方便group discussion，大教室距离远了不好操作；而有的同学晚上有活动，有jobs to do，肯定没有时间来参加晚上的课时。

Lecture:一个教授的小讲座，说monkey常年住在树上，该怎么喝水。举了两个例子，第一个是一种monkey（记不得名字了，屏幕上会出现），这种monkey只要吃新鲜多汁的叶子(tender leaves）就可以补充足够的水分；另一些monkey是去下雨后积水of paper, 教授 tell them couple months in advance, but he think himself as a fast worker, so he didn’t do in until the day before deadline.去图书馆找资料，写一半发现不够，材料只够写6页，于是又回图书馆，可是关门了。所以他没能按时完成。教授给了个低分，但说他的文章不错。

Reading: 侏罗纪时代的生物灭绝了the mass extinction，可能是因为彗星撞地球。 1. 一些发现的古老的生物还是什么的碎片，然后它们可以dating back to XXX年250-million-old meteorite fragments；2. meteorite fragments的分散在3个地方，China, Japan还有一个；3.发现一个Australia的crater应该是大撞击留下的。

Listening: 这些都是可以解决的。Workable solutions: 1. 第一那些碎片的化学物质没有因为地壳运动受热而改变，所以时间应该很短，应该没有250-million-old这么老； 2. 碎片只在那三个国家被发现，如果冲击力那么强，那碎片应该是散落在全世界的； 3. 类似那个坑的坑到处都是，normal activities such as volcano火山运动也会是造成沟壑的原因，该是地球内部地质活动形成的。

Reading: Asian carp, in the Greek Lakes, that has too much will damage the local environment. There are three measures to prevent ： 1. Build a wall; 2. Use electrical devices; 3. Two-step measure. First, use poison kill all the fish, second, reintroduce the local species.

Listening: disagree 1. Factories near the lake, they use cargos and ships there. It will cost a lot. Ships upload on one side of the wall, and another ship reload at the other side;2. Small fish still could swim through the device, they grow up and reproduce in lakes;3. Drastic. No prediction, cannot ensure not pollute the lakes in the future.

Reading：The article introduced a kind of plant which called GM (Gene Modification) crop. It has three major benefits: 1. It is good for the environment because it has the resist-gene. Using GM crop can reduce the use of pesticide;2. It can help poor farmers around the world. GM crop can also have good yield in dry season which will profit the farmer;3. GM plant can add missing nutrients for people in specific area. For example people eating a lot rice lack of Vitamin A, so GM rice which had added Vitamin A in it can help people gain what they missed.

Listening：The lecture totally disagreed in those three aspects: 1. If the resist-gene is got by the wild crop, it will grow out of control which brings more damage to the environment;2. Those GM crop cannot help farmers economically because they need to buy those GM seeds every year instead of using the seeds they got from the last season. It is more costly;3. The Vitamin A added in the rice is not enough. The more efficient way to deal with this

problem is encouraging those people eating more vegetable like sweet potato.

Reading: 一个什么动物在很久以前身躯很大的原因： 1. 那时候氧气含量很多；2. plant 很多；3. Warm climate

Listening: 反对观点 1. 氧气含量其实比现在还少（很多百分比，听糊涂了，这样不确定）；2. plant是很多，但是营养很少 ；3. warm climate is actually a disadvantage, because the animal needed to cool off. More surface area, 更容易散热；小动物体表特征大(鼻子，耳朵等)，占表面积多。

Reading: 阅读说在Rhone river发现了一个bust,这就是Caesar,是罗马的一个leader. 1. 那个bust（a kind of sculpture) 是realism地形式表现 然后Caesar的时代也是realism的时代。 2. bust的hair的表现 和真实的Caesar一致 （跟money有关）3. 因为是在river里发现,以前人们想销毁它,有新的leader上任,留着它是不respect.

Listening: 反驳阅读论点 1. Realism continues after Caesar died. 2. Only the style of hair matches, other features do not match at all. 3. There were others sculpture also found in that river, and they were right added that bust. And throwing it into river, just aiming to dispose the trash.

Reading: lionfish 从Indo 洋扩展到太平洋了，阅读中有三种方法来解决： 1. 人工捕捉它们来protect coral reef 生物系统; 2. 引入fish market，这样可以减少对 local fish 的需要，让他们能有时间 recover;3. 人们可以把它们用于日常饮食，因为它们高蛋白，低脂肪。

Listening: 教授全部反对：1. 人工捕捉无法区分lionfish 和其他鱼，很多 rare 的鱼也都在coral reef ，会牵连其他鱼种；2. 引进市场会导致有人人工养殖。 Lionfish 如果从 fish farm escape ，这就造成了更严重的 invasive 问题； 3. 有些lionfish 是有毒的，吃了以后会造成 vomiting numbness arching，我们无法检验每一条鱼，所以不吃他们。

Reading: 讲述养鱼场作为世界上主要的提供鱼类食物的farm对环境可能会造成严重影响：1. 鱼产生大量的by-product，滋生细菌污染环境。2. 一些饲养的鱼逃跑跟野生鱼交配产生存活能力低的后代。3. 渔场浪费大量珍贵资源。

Listening: professor说事实上这些问题都有已经找到了解决办法：1. 文章说养殖的鱼产生了很多by-product, 教授说现在有中生物（名字会显示）feed on product,减少。2. 文章还有说鱼会逃出fish farm, 这个好像教授是说数量不多，这些鱼的基因也不会对野生鱼造成伤害。3.

文章说养虾造成大量浪费，如淡水，教授说有种树（名字会显示）可以tolerant salty water, 所以是recycle的，used water secondary use .

Reading：美国的Death Valley理300kg的大石头会动（moving stones），有人试着解释:1. 风吹动的，因为存在关于山谷里有大风的纪录，且天下雨的时候，muddy变得很平，适合让风吹动石头。2. 地下水晚上结冰，石头就能动了。3. 人类恶搞的。比如麦田圈就是。

Listening：反对阅读的说法，理由分别是：1. 没有风强到能吹到石头，并且给了张照片，石头陷在muddy里，按writer的理论，石头不应该陷下去的。2. 是沙漠，水根本不够，且温度太高，就算晚上结冰，白天就化了，没法搬动石头。3. 如果是人干的，那一定会留下痕迹，，这种muddy里没有人能做到不留痕迹。而现场既没有人的痕迹，也没有马的痕迹。
