Part 2

名师版:2014年10月25日雅思口语真题解析

I’m going to tell you one thing I did which I consider as a waste of time. It is me binge-watching American TV series during one of my weekends, which happened about several weeks ago. As to how it was done, well, it was pretty simple. I just need to get my computer running and connect it to the internet. Then the program could be downloaded to my computer. After that, I could start enjoying the soap opera.

The reasons why I see it as a time-wasting activity are obvious. These tv episodes were just for entertainment, all the plots were fictional. I couldn’t learn much from this type of programs, unlike documentaries, from which I could acquire more general knowledge and become more knowledgeable. All my time was spent watching the good-looking actors and actresses performing stories created by the writer. I have to admit that their acting was really professional and I was so drawn to the plots. Just couldn’t get my eyes off the computer screen. When I finally decided that I have to get out of my room to get some fresh air, I suddenly realized that I had been watching the series for more than 5 hours! Can you imagine!

Binge-watching TV series is really a waste of time. If you are really bored, and have nothing more important to do, it can be a good way to kill your time. But otherwise, it is better that you find something more constructive to do.

Describe a positive experience that you had as a teenager. You should say
  - what the positive experience was
  - where you were
  - who you were with
  - and explain why you found the experience positive.

• I’m going to describe the first time I visited Beijing, the capital of my country, on a family trip when I was a teenager. I had never been to BJ before, and it was great to share that experience with my family members.

• The positive experience wasn’t confined to one particular place in BJ. As far as I remember, I enjoyed the whole trip, from the guided tour to the visits to various tourist attractions. We got off the coach near the Tian’anMen Square, and so one of my first memories was seeing the huge oil painting of Chairman Mao. We also visited the Great Wall, Summer Palace and the Forbidden City.

• As I said earlier, it was a family trip, and it was me and my parents plus my little sister. And this made the experience more enjoyable.

• What really struck me about BJ was that it was historic but modern and thriving at the same time. It seemed to me to be a lively, fashionable and cosmopolitan place. Coming from a relatively small town, the experience made me keen to visit more capital cities in the future.

Describe a good law in your country.
  You should say:
  -What the law is
-How you first learned about this law
-Who benefits from this law (or, who is affected by this law)
and explain why you think this is a good law.

• I would like to describe a law, which is to do with drunk driving. It was amended and came into effect three years ago in 2011. I first heard about it from my dad because he has a car. This law says that driving under the influence of alchohol is a criminal behavior. If people were found driving after drinking alchohol, they would get a serious penalty which includes several months suspension of their driving licenses, being fined with several hundreds yuan, and even a couple of months' detention.

• The law is much harsher compared with the previous law on drunk driving. The benefits are obvious. First of all, this law would help reduce the cases of DUI to a great extent, which as a result can keep down the accident rate on the road. Because drivers are not willing to take risks because of the harsh punishment. In addition, pedestrians will be safer because their chances of being hit by a drunken driver is sharped reduced. Actually, it is a good thing for both the driver and the people on the road. because an accident would not do any good to any one who are involved in a car accident.

• After the law was put into effect, the number of drunk driving cases has fallen dramatically. Roads are much safer with fewer accidents. This new law is definitely making this country a better and safer place to live.

1. Well, people waste time in a lot of occasions. For example, waiting for a delayed airplane; queuing up for hours and hours to buy a latest iphone, and even waiting for the turn to get in to the IELTS oral exam can be put under this category. The list can go on and on.

2. Well, that solution is very simple theoretically. The service provider can better organize the timetable and make sure that delays or waiting period can be shorted as much as possible. Of course, this is easier said than done. Practically, impossible as no one can ensure things can go on smoothly as people planned.

3. I think it depends. From my own experiences, people around me tend to be the last-minute type of person. Yes, they will follow their schedules. But the problem is that people constantly rush into finishing one task as the deadline approaches. The consequences are clear, the outcomes of the tasks might not be that high-quality.
