在口语描述和对话过程中，许多考生还是有这样一个困扰：词汇贫乏，说来说去都是几个最基本的词汇。而且我们知道雅思口语评分细则中词汇也是其中一项。在考试中，我们除了要掌握一些话题词汇，在口语描述中能够按照话题展开自己的内容之外，还需要用到一些地道的表达方式包括词汇，习语等。这一部分就需要考生进行积累。但是单独的词汇背诵并不能有很大的成效，在平时的对练和自己练习对话中，需要将这些地道的表达方式应用自如。

例如话题词汇：

当被问到your favorite animals, flowers, trees等，首先我们要知道相关的话题词汇。

比如animals:

Domestic animals: dogs, cats, sheep or horses

Pets: dogs, cats, parrots, lizards, snake, spiders

Wild animals: tigers, monkey, alligator, antelope

Flowers:

Roses, tulips, lilies, carnations, lavenders

Trees:

Willow, birch, plane trees, pine

有了这些话题词汇后，在叙述中还有有特色。

比如一提到：Do you like keeping a pet?

Yes, I am really into keeping pets such as dogs and cats, because they are very friendly and lovely.

这样的答案，许多考生都能回答，但是从评分细则来讲，只能好似4.5分左右的口语。

Actually, I am really into all kinds of animals, and keeping a pet has always been my dream. You know, pets especially dogs are very loyal to their owners. When I feel lonely, they can stick with me; when I feel depressed, they can comfort me by licking my hands or lying beside me.

Stick with陪伴，be loyal to忠诚是比较常用的表达方式。

所以无论是从话题词汇上还是习语上都要做好充足的准备。
