The table compares the income of secondary/school amongfive countries in the year 1999.

It is obvious that atthe initial stageof teachers’ career, Luxembourg’s teachers earned themost salaries (800000 pound). And the teachers came from Australia and Denmark had the second most income, whichreached at xx pound. As for Korean and Japanese teachers, they did not make asmuch income as any other countries, only had xx and xx pound respectively.

15 years later, this situation didn’t changedramatically. The payment of Luxembourg’s teachers rose by 30,000 pound and stillwon the largest payment. Australian and Danish teachers’ income followed, whichincreased to xx and xx respectively. As is expected, the figure for Japan andKorea came right at the bottom.

Conversely, compared to the top salary in a teacher’scareer, the incomes of Korean and Japanese teachers climbed like a rocket, arriving at their highest level of 370,000and 340,000 respectively. The number of Luxembourg’s teachers almost tripled. But it is strange that thesalaries of Australian and Danish teachers did not go up any further.

Environment
Discussion
Developments of technology are causing environmental problems. Some people think the solution is that everyone accepts a simpler life, while others believe that technology can solve these problems. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

SAMPLE:

There is nodoubt that modern technology has caused a variety of environmentalissues, both in cities and towns. Ironically, I feel that technology can addresssome of these problems but at the same time, personal effort is a must.

Theoretically, addressing some environmental issues by adopting simple lifestyles is sensible.According to the statistics, during the last 100 years, the earth’s surfacetemperature has risendramatically because of human activities. Therefore, somepeople feel that the changes in our lifestyles can reverse this worrying trend. Forexample, the growing number of vehicles on the road emits a large quantity ofgreen house gases, such as carbon dioxide, which will worsen the air quality. Ifresidents chose other modes of transport, like buses or subways, this seriouscondition would be alleviated to a large extent. However, in my opinion, this policywould be veryunpopular withsome people, especially those living in the suburb, whodo need to travel on roads.

Whileit is undeniable that an individual’s behaviour has a profound effect on theenvironment, other people argue that the improvement in technology can tacklesome problems in turn. For example, the technology today is available toproduce electric cars that would be both quieter and cleaner to use. Persuadingmanufacturers and travellers to adopt this new technology would be a moreeffective strategy for improving air quality fundamentally.

Myown view is that apart from individual effort and environmental friendlytechnologies, we need to do more, such as introducing related laws andregulations. Environmental problems are so complex that each effort should becombined together to win the battle.

另外一篇老师作文

Technological development is by no means an unmixed blessing. It brings forth convenience and solutions that save human from perennial suffering on the one hand. However, it gives rise to unprecedented pollution on the other. Many people rest their hope on a simpler lifestyle, whereas others regard technology in and of itself as redemption. To a degree both ideas make sense.

Our pursuit of technology has resulted in the dilemma we find ourselves mired in. The ultimate drive behind this pursuit is, in a certain sense, our relentless yearning for convenience, enjoyment, excitement and abundance. Bearing witness to this are those ubiquitously seen plastic bags that packed our takeaway, or discarded cellphones that can still function but have been rendered out-of-date by updated version. In retrospect, when our ancestors were still plowing in the field or pastured their cows in the meadow, things were far simpler, though seemingly rustic. They desired less and thus were less troubled by the unintended negative consequence had they aspired more.
Yet, eluding technology cannot be the elixir to our problem. What is done cannot be undone. The Pandora has opened the box; nevertheless, hope remains to assuage lots of humankind. We have seen advance in technology ameliorating the environmental pollution. For one thing, scientists can come up with ways to eliminate existing pollution, such as heavy metal pollution or acid rain. For another, human ingenuity can conjure up new approaches that can replace old ones that are responsible for pollution. Heavy polluting fossil fuel can be replaced by alternative energy, and pesticide or fertilizer may be eliminated by gene technology.

To my knowledge, both viewpoints are justifiable. This aggravating environmental pollution has much to do with our life style. Had we been less material and made do with less,we might have lived in a far cleaner world. Yet, the problem cannot be solved by discarding technology. We still can count on it to make things right again.(324 words)
