1. Many students like to help others by working for free in volunteer programs in their community or school. Talk about a type of volunteer work that you are interested in.Explain why you think it is important. Use details and examples to explain your answer.
After making comparison with other available choices of volunteer work in the community, I would like to provide transportation for elder people. There are some reasons. First of all, I’ve got my own driving licence and I’m available for that. Not all the students will get driving licence as early as I do, and therefore, there will be few who can do this. And I’m pleased to take the responsibility. Moreover, I would like to be a tour guide after graduation and this accumulates my personal experience. Some of my friends major in tourism have told me that it’s work to take care of children as well as the elderly. And hence if I can get along well with the old, I may suit myself
in the tourism industry better than others.
2. Some people prefer to work in an office setting. Others prefer to work from their home, away from the traditional office or workplace. Which of these two work arrangements would you prefer and why?
I prefer the latter. There are some reasons. Firstly, being alone brings concentration. When alone at home, I can better concentrate on work, and concentration means high efficiency and better comprehension. But when together with others, I’m more likely to be interrupted by the crowds and noise. Moreover, I hate crowds. In China, we don't lack population and I am tired of crowds in the streets. And when in my spare time, I’m trying best to avoid being together with a great number of people, in order to keep more peace and privacy.

The state university is planning to eliminate the poetry writing class next year based on the declining enrolment and similar class in nearby university. The man in the conversation disagrees with the plan. There are two reasons. Firstly, the small size of class is what the students need, because they can individually get more feedback and comment from professors. Moreover, similar class in nearby university is really inconvenient because it takes more than an hour to reach that university and unless students travel by car, it’ll be too time-consuming. However, the truth is that few students have got their own cars.

Releaser is involved in a specific biological phenomenon when a stimuli, initiated by the releaser, triggers the inner responsive behaviour of animal, and this is quite essential to the species’survival. Professor discussed two examples. The first is the prey behaviour. There is a kind of toad living on worms, and it’ll attack anything that looks and moves like a worm, horizontally, even if the target is a pencil, moving back and forth. And the pencil here is a stimuli. The other example is to protect the egg. Take goose for example. They’ll use their beaks to throw things onto the nest to protect anything in round shape, looking like egg. And the round object here is considered as the baby geese, a stimuli.

The women is quite interested in Professor Thomson’s economics class, but she has got 4 other classes to attend the coming semester. There are two possible solutions. The first one is to audit the economics class, but she is afraid that she may not learn that much without all the paper work done. The second one is to register the class in summer, but she’s got part-time job then. From my perspective, the second solution is better. Though she may probably learn less, as long as she’s really interested in the class, she’ll get enough information.

There are two kinds of majority influence when individual thought will be influenced by the group. The first is informational influence, the collective information necessary to make the right choice. For example, on the way to a restaurant, when the driver thinks turning left is right, and the majority think they should go straight, the driver may probably go forward. The second is normative influence, the norm opinions necessarily get one involved in a group. For instance, after a movie, even if one thinks the movie not good, he will say the movie is good when others think so. He does this in order to get along with the group.
