今天,我们来讲讲雅思写作。上周,讲师团的雅思名师 Helen 为大家讲解了大作文开头段的写作方法。Helen's 2-step method 大家还记得多少呢?今天,一起听 Helen 老师讲解大作文主体段的展开方法--How to write a main paragraph.

主体段展开一直是学生非常头疼的部分,总感觉没内容可写,凑不够字数。今天我们一起来学习如何对中心句进行扩展和支持。

我们先对大作文的文章结构做一个量化:

-4-paragraph essay 文章结构一般为四段式。

-2 main body paragraphs 其中包含两个主体段

-5 sentences in each 每个主体段由5句话组成

-90 to 100 words each 每个主体段字数在90-100个单词。

量化后,大家对大作文应该有了更加清晰直观的概念吧。

今天我们主要讲一下如何对主体段 (Main parts of your essay) 进行展开。

首先,要有好的想法 (good ideas),好的词汇 (good vocabulary) 以及构思 (planning)

两种主体段展开方法:

1. Firstly / Secondly / Finally (Advantages / disadvantages / problems/solutions)

这种方法在展开过程中给出不止一个观点,可以是两个或者三个。

2. Idea / Explain / example

One idea / a reason / an opinion

这种方法是针对一个点进行具体解释及给出相关例子。

以第一种主体段展开方法为例:每个主体段我们要尝试写五句话 (Try to Write 5 sentences)

1. Topic Sentence

2. Firstly

3. Secondly

4. Finally

5. explain more, or add example

以常考的教育类题目为例:

Topic: Some people believe that unpaid community service should be a compulsory part of high school programs. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

假定我们的观点是不同意 disagree

3-minute plan: 具体想一下为什么社区服务不应该是必修课的一部分:

首先,既然是 high school programs 可以知道高中生一般课业比较繁忙

-school timetable is full / no time for community service

-students' work in other subjects would be affected

不仅如此,并不是每个学生都想参加社区服务 community service. 有些学生不喜欢参加,我们不能强迫每个孩子都接受社区服务。

-teenagers might not want to do it (reluctant/no motivation)

共三个不同意的观点。因此主体段第一句话可以总结概括说“disagree for several reasons”

There are several reasons why I would argue against having compulsory community service for secondary school students. Firstly, the school curriculum is already full with important academic subjects, such as math, science and languages. For example, I remember having an extremely busy timetable when I was at high school, and it would not have been possible to add to it. Secondly, students' performance in other subjects would be affected if valuable study time were taken by charity work or neighborhood improvement schemes. *(students’work 作为例子进行展示 ) Finally, I believe that the teenage students would be reluctant to take part in any programme of obligatory work, and this could lead to poor motivation and even bad behavior.

注意:

1. Linking words do not help your “vocabulary” score 衔接词是文中标蓝的词汇;

2. Examiners want to see “topic vocabulary” 也就是与话题有关的词汇,文中标红的部分。

通过五句话,我们非常清晰地对自己的观点进行了细节化延伸。
