托福阅读题型讲解：作者修辞目的题

大家都知道，作为新托福必考题型，修辞目的题（Rhetorical Purpose Questions）每篇文章考0-2题。修辞目的题(rhetorical purpose questions)也是新托福阅读中难度较大的题型之一。这种题型对于国内考生来说较为陌生，在考场上时间紧张的情况下考生往往不知该在文中什么地方找答案。新通外语南京分校谢雨琇老师将通过对这种题型出题原理的透彻分析，为大家揭秘托福阅读中的修辞目的题的答案应从哪儿寻找。

阅读论述手段：

出题形式：

解题技巧：往前找原则； 抓结构不抓句意
举例 答案：TO illustrate / provide a example of …
并列 答案：TO provide another case…/ give another analysis/explanation of …
对比 答案：TO emphasize / compare / …

例题：Paragraph 4

The first generation to experience these changes did not adopt the new attitudes easily. The factory clock became the symbol of the new work rules. One mill worker who finally quit complained revealingly about “obedience to the ding-dong of the bell——just as though we are so many living machines.” With the loss of personal freedom also came the loss of standing in the community…
