Question
Describe an old person you respect.
You should say:
• who this person is
• what he or she look likes like
• how you know this person
• and explain why you respect him or her.
Sample answer
I’d like to talk about Wu Ying, who’s the oldest hip-hop dancer in China. I read the stories of the 72-year-old lady in China Daily. I saw in the news photographs that, like other old ladies in China, she has short hair. And I could see fine lines and wrinkles on her face. But unlike them, she’s wearing slouch pants and a print t-shirt. However, that style of clothes had brought blames of others, as I read in the news. Her neighbors hated to see her unusual clothes while her own daughter laughed at her and refused to go out with her.
Yet, she was so brave that she just ignored the bias. And she even found a group of five, called ‘granny hip-hop dancing team’, which have won several dance competitions. Now they’re often invited to perform in TV shows. Speaking of why I admire the granny, I think the reason is that she’s so courageous and confident that she takes the leading role of her own life. She just deserves my respect.
