About half a year ago, I downloaded an app with my mobile phone, which is called Kingdom Dictionary. And it benefits me in many ways. The biggest advantage of the app is that, while in the past I had to refer to a heavy paper-based dictionary when I want to know the meaning of a certain word, now there is no need for me to do this anymore. Whenever I need to look up the meaning of a word, all I need to do is simply to take my mobile phone out of my bag, switch to unlock the screen, swipe it to find the app, and I’ll get everything.
And you can expect much more than the convenience of using. The app gives you not only clear Chinese meaning. Also it provides detailed English explanations, which is important for all English learners because the Chinese meaning, as a kind of translation, can only be ‘close’ to the English meaning of a certain word, but it is just impossible for it to be 100% precise.
Besides, the app has included the English items and their meanings of a wide range of fields, like geology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, etc., etc. This may serve as a resource of specialized English learning for university students. Another good thing about the app is that, you can download it free! Mind you, it is not always so. This is only allowed irregularly.
