Describe a person you know who is good at cooking
You should say:
Who it is
How they learned to cook
What they like to cook
And explain why you think their cooking is good.
Ok right then, well the person that I’d like to talk to you about is my mum, which I guess comes as no surprise to you, seeing as most people enjoy their mother’s cooking! But you know, I honestly think my mum is an amazing cook, and as for how she got to being so good at cooking, well I guess she basically picked it up from her mother, in other words my granny, who was also incredibly good at cooking. So yeah, I suppose it kind of runs in the family! Although unfortunately, I haven’t inherited this skill myself, you know, my cooking’s pretty awful!
But anyway, getting back to my mum, um… whatever she cooks, it’s amazing, without exception. I mean, everything she’s ever cooked for me has been absolutely delicious. Um…I don’t really know how else to say it! And out of all of the dishes she’s done for me, I’d say my favourite one would probably, be roast chicken, because it’s always so succulent and tender. And my mouth’s actually starting to water just thinking of it!
Anyway finally, before I finish, I’d just like to mention one time which really sticks in my memory, and it was when my mum was feeling a bit down, for some reason or other, and basically what happened was that the potatoes she’d cooked were a bit underdone, you know, they were a bit hard. And when I mentioned this to her, she said to me, “I’m sorry, my heart just wasn’t in it”. And from hearing those words, I realized that every single dish she had cooked for me in my life had been done out of love. And that’s really, I think, the main reason as to why she cooks so well.
So yeah, I’m super lucky to have such a wonderful mum who cooks such nice food for me! Thanks for listening.
