托福口语Task1:
Your university will sponsor one of the following activities for students, an outdoor camping night, a music festival for students to experience the local culture or a computer game competition in the dormitory. Which one do you think it's the best to establish new friendship and solidarity among students and why? Please include details and examples in your explanation.
【Sample answer】
I prefer an outdoor camping night for students. First of all, attending an outdoor camping night can be very relaxing. You can enjoy the beautiful sceneries along the way like green trees, colorful and fragrant flowers and you can also breathe fresh air in the open field. At nights, you can set up a bonfire and chat with each other and maybe dance to the music. It can be so fun and interesting. Second reason is that joining an outdoor camping night can expand my social circle. For example, last summer vocation, I went camping with some foreign teachers and many other people Ididn't know. During the night, we talked a lot and I found some people who had the same interests as me. I make a lot of friends.
托福口语Task2:
Technology devices distance people far more now than before.
【Sample answer】
I agree that technology devices distance people far more now than before. firstly, technology, like smart phones or computers can be so convenient and fun that people are getting too addicted to it that they don't spend much time with other people. They often watch movies, play computer games, etc, instead of going out to join friends for fun. The result is that the relationship among people is not so close than before. For example, my cousin Sam plays a car-racing game every night after school for 2 hours. He doesn't go out to play basketball with his friends. Finally, he lost many friends. [That is why…]-If necessary.
托福口语Task3:
A student has written a letter suggesting that the university should take out a part of the student activity fund for students attending academic conferences, but the man in the conversation dislikes the proposal. First, according to the letter, students will be encouraged by this new funding to attend academic conferences, where students can exchange their ideas and academic research。. The man in the conversation, however, argues that the activity budget should be used for activities for which the budget is intended, such as cultural or extracurricular events. Second, the student in the letter says that many students would like to attend one of those academic conferences but are unable to afford the trip. The man in the conversation disagrees with this statement too because according to him, many academic departments on campus do have a budget for students going to academic conferences but a lot of students are in fact unaware of this opportunity. For these reasons, the man opposes the student proposal.
托福口语Task4:
The term advocacy journalism” refers to a type of journalistic writing that advocates a certain cause or expresses a viewpoint while still including different sides of the story. In the professor's example, a newspaper editor felt reluctant about his city government’s decision to demolish a historical building so he published a commentary in the paper. He wrote a lot about how demolishing this building constructing a new residential area was a great idea for some people and how it would benefit the city. On the other hand, he also pointed out the historical values of the structure since it was one of the earliest buildings in the city. He argued that the new residential could be built somewhere else in the city. As a result, most readers started to see the historical sentiment of this building and felt unwilling to let the building be demolished(拆除).
托福口语Task5:
【Sample answer】
The man in conversation is going to prepare for physics exam with his study group but would also like to attend a presentation by one of his favorite writers. He can either go to the presentation and skip the study group meeting or go to the study group and read about the presentation afterwards. In my opinion, it's better for the man to skip the study group and go to the presentation by his favorite writer. First, if he still goes to the study group and misses out the presentation, he will have lots of regrets and won’t be able to concentrate well at the study group. In this case, he will be wasting his time. However if he goes to the presentation, he will be able to feel his favorite writer's personal charisma or even have a conversation with his favorite writer in person, which is a lot more interesting and a much better opportunity to learn than just reading about it online afterwards.
托福口语Task6:
In the lecture, the professor talks about how obsters have developed physically to adapt to the dark water environment such as compound eyes and antennae that produce low frequency vibration. First, within their compound eyes, there can be as many as ten thousand lenses that can be used to detect motion in the water and capture dim lights under the sea. This helps them spot their predators in the dark water. The other organ they have developed to help them become more perceptive in the dark environment is their antennae. They antennae are able to produce a low frequency vibration like a buzzing sound to scape danger or to warn others of danger. For example, if a predator is trying to eat the lobster the buzzing sound will either scare the fish away or signal other lobsters to move to safer places, which increases their chance of survival.
