如何让你的托福口语跳出列举危机？

——从2016年的真题讲起

2016年1月9日，大陆考场的两个托福口语机经已经见诸网络端，分别是：

1. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? College students should be allowed to keep pets in their dormitories.

2. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Celebrities like musician, athletes or performers can set good examples for young people.

具体措辞精准与否，我们不做特别的苛责，题是这两个没跑了。相比于职业选择、消费取向、风俗介绍、意见建议等相对理性的话题，这两个话题明显较为生活化和年轻化。一个是问大学宿舍该不该让宠物入住；一个是问偶像明星能不能成为年轻人的典范。

这两个话题秉承托福主观部分考查的一贯原则，同意不同意都有较大的空间。准备过类似话题的同学会很快罗列完2到3个论点，愉快收工。比如：宠物有三宝：有爱、责任、人缘好；宠物有三坏：脏乱、吵闹、气味怪。而事先没预备过足够机经素材的同学就可能要慌不择路，连编带凑了。

可事实上，惯于背段子真的可以完美解决全部问题吗？会不会急于展现自己熟记的观点，反而与题目的主旨失之交臂呢？

比如第一个题，我们的关注点真的是宠物吗？还是宿舍环境的要求和宠物的兼容性更为贴合呢？如果我们意识到宠物只是一个用于测试标准的工具，那么我们的回答就会显得更具逻辑性。

比如我们可以这么开始：The essence of putting all students in the same living environment is to accustom them to a small community where love and happiness can germinate and dwell.

一个定义就可以轻松奠定让宠物入住的基础。接下来是和宠物相结合的推理过程。

Accordingly, a dormitory should not be a setting that is so homogenous with a classroom or a library. In there we should find the cutest moments of life when we can take photos with a puppy or play ball games with a kitty. It’s the place where students can learn that life is not all about learning, but sometimes about enjoying the simplest companies we have from even some furring little creatures.

(not only……but also……变个样子是不是更适合这个句子？) 至于观点嘛……在口语中，有个简洁有力的结尾就好：So why keep them out of our life?

当然我们也可以更为直白地把观点放在开头（如果有的同学怕 love 和 happiness 还不够让考官解读出我们的心意的话）：

Personally, I don’t think it’s a good idea to put pets among students who need a good rest after all kinds of academic and after-class activities. 这样直白的表述加上一些观点和细节，就不会被判做是废话或者模板了。

Back to their most private spaces, students will need due tranquility and neat surroundings to go with their break and perhaps some study as well.

再细说寝室的要求，然后就可以让猫猫狗狗们登场了：

But with a dorm mate’s cat meowing at our side or a dog’s saliva sticking to our books or pillows, what a sight would it be?

毛病出来了哦？再看影响室友关系的：

Personally, I cannot guarantee I won’t piss off someday and want to move out. I don’t mean everybody hates little lovely creatures, but living with them can be so different.

大家是不是发现，有了逻辑推理的思路，背不背段子真的不是那么重要了呢？即便在上面这个以宠物为题眼的考题中，阿猫阿狗们的戏份其实也不足以贯穿全文。
