Task 1

What do you think is the most difficult challenge in your study? How to solve the challenge?

Sample answer

When it comes to the most difficult challenge in my study, I would say is to stay focused. As for me, I can’t concentrate on my study for a long time. I am always distracted by other things, such as mobile phones or interesting thoughts that occur in my mind. However, I find out that these distractions affect my study efficiency. In this case, I figure my own way of solving this problem. Usually, I will put aside my mobile phone. Also, I would lie on my bed for about 20 minutes before I begin to study, which makes me calm down and focus more on my study.

Task 2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement that it is more important to maintain relationship with family members that with friends?

Sample answer

From my perspective, I strongly hold that it is more important to maintain relationship with family members. To begin with, family members are the people who are always with you as the time passes. Friends, however, sometimes may change or even lose contact with each other. In this case, it will be a loss if we ignore the relationship with family members. In addition, family members know you better. Since people spend the longest time with family members, family members know everything about them, including their thoughts and secrets. Thus, family members can always provide the optimal solutions to their problems.

1) 因为rehearsal太频繁，只要一周排练一次就可以解决这个问题

Sample answer

The newspaper claims that the school is going to eliminate the jazz choir, because students lack of interest and there are lots of choirs in the school. However, the female student strongly opposes the proposal. First, she believes that there are too many rehearsals now. If the school adjusts the frequency to once a week, the problem will be solved. In addition, the choirs aren’t the same with each other, because they are different types. And the female student herself cares only about the classical music. So she would like to attend the jazz choir.

Behavioral scaling，一些动物的行为是由它们的living environment决定的。

Listening

教授用toad做例子。在食物多的pool里成长的蝌蚪长大后更倾向于自己找食物，并没有那么social，食物少的pool里成长的蝌蚪长大后就变得更加social。

Sample answer

Behavioral scaling means that animals’ behavior depends somehow on their living environment. The professor uses toad as an example. There are different living environment for toads. Those who grow from the environment that is full of food tend to have no interaction with others when they grow up since they can always find food themselves. On the contrary, those who grow from the environment that lacks of food would be more social after they grow up because they have to work together to search for food.

男生昨晚车坏了，花了三个小时修车，他没有准备biology test。有两个方案:

1) 直接去考试。他平时都没有缺过课，而且还做了很多reading

2) 下周三跟那些参加field trip的学生一起考，要想一个合适的理由不去考试，但是他没有

Sample answer

The male student’s car broke down last night, he spent three hours repairing the car, which provided him no time preparing for the biology test. He can attend the exam directly or he can attend the exam with the students who go to the field trip next Wednesday. As for me, I would like to recommend him to attend the exam now. He actually learns quite well the subject because he didn’t miss any class before and also he did a lot of readings. If he wants to delay the exam, he has to find a suitable reason, however he really doesn’t have one.

商业的两种organization

1) Mechanic organization:所有东西生产程序都一样，所以顾客有信心，比如说pizza店。

2) Organic organization：商家会根据顾客的需求调整产品，比如广告公司

Sample answer

There are two ways of business organization. The first type is called mechanic organization. All the products are of the same procedure, which offers the customers confidence. For example, pizza shop produces the same pizzas, which provides customers confidence. Organic organization means the company can adjust their products according to the customers’ needs, such as advertisement business. Customers can tell the company what they want. And the company will design the advertisement according to the requirements.
