 All university students should be required to take basic science courses even if it is not the field of their study.

Disagree
1.It is true that taking a wide range of courses can enhance students’ comprehensive knowledge and skills (e.g. physics, chemistry, biology, the nature of the world, technology, innovation) – have competitive edge – academic performance – have better career prospects   
However, it is unnecessary for all college students to take basic science courses.
2.Time-consuming – spend a large amount of time attending classes, completing assignments, and taking exams – study under great pressure and feel overwhelmed – have negative impact on physical and mental health
3.Some people are not interested in science. – force them to learn – have low motivation – waste time and energy 
4.Pay more tuition and hire more teachers – increase the financial burden of families and the school – Families that are financially disadvantaged cannot afford the tuition

The most important characteristic to a successful politician or leader is good communication skills.
Disagree
1.It is true that communication skills are essential to a politician or leader. – maintain a positive relationship with citizens or teammates – negotiate with other parties for cooperation  
    However, there are some other qualities that are equally important. 
2.Knowledge and intelligence – make strategies – lead the country or the team to success – solve problems
3.Honesty – win trust and respect – set a good examples for others to follow 

A leader should have strong opinions and not change his/her opinions.

1.Listen to others’ ideas – show respect to team members – encourage them to be involved in discussion – create a positive and lively atmosphere – improve team morale – win trust – lead the team to success VS stubborn 
2.Open-minded – exchange ideas – make use of all ideas – make a wiser decision
3.It is true that during emergencies, it is important that leaders make decisions on their own to enhance efficiency. (e.g. wars, natural disasters) However, these cases are quite rare. In most cases, it is important for leaders to listen to the opinions proposed by team members.

The most important goal of education is to help people educate themselves.

1.It is true that the ability to study independently is important. – continue learning throughout life without the help of teaches – develop learning strategies and learning autonomy   
   However, there are other goals that are equally important.
2.Career: We live in a knowledge-based economy. – acquire academic knowledge and get a higher degree – have better career prospects – prepare for future career
3.Moral Values: receive moral education – learn moral values – distinguish between right and wrong – mentally immature – be misled and cheated – go astray or even commit crimes
 
In times of an economic crisis, in which area should the government reduce its spending? 
1) Education
2) Healthcare
3) Support for the unemployed

Education
1.Healthcare: go to hospitals, receive treatment, have a negative impact on health (e.g. cancer, heart diseases), even cause death, Life is the most precious. 
2.Support for the unemployed: cannot make a living or satisfy material needs, live in poverty and become homeless, commit crimes (e.g. steal or rob), pose a great threat to social stability/ social order, even overthrow the government 
3.Education: various ways to receive education (attend school, study independently on the Internet, take online courses), search for information, watch educational programs, Individuals and educational organizations can share the responsibility.
 
Parents should not express their disagreement to the teacher if parents find the teaching method is not right.

1.Students: express disagreement – adjust teaching methods to suit students’ levels and needs – enhance students’ academic performance. VS be misled by teachers
2.Teachers: reflect on their teaching process – discuss, share, observe other teachers’ classes, learn from others – adjust teaching methods – make progress – enhance the quality of teaching VS will not realize their own problems – have a negative impact on their career development
3.Parents: pay tuition – have the right to state their opinions – communication among parents, students and teachers – better learning outcomes 
 
If a city has given the money to investment, which options do you prefer: 
1) Build a public garden to provide quiet environment to benefit all
2) Build a sports field for students in high school which doesn’t have its own
Build a public garden
1.Benefit more people – do physical activity (e.g. go jogging, dance, play badminton), have a place to meet friends, can be serve as landmarks, represent the image of the city – high school students can also do sports in the garden 
2.Have a positive impact on the environment – flowers, trees and small animals – absorb greenhouse gases – reduce the greenhouse effect and global warming – absorb noise – enjoy a healthy and quiet life 
3.It is true that sports field can benefit certain high school students. However, the city government only has limited budget and those high school students can do sports in the public garden.

1.Share experience, feelings and stories – accompany each other – will not feel lonely 
2.Help each other when during emergencies
3.It is true that good food and location are also important. – try tasty food and enjoy beautiful scenery. – increase the sense of happiness. However, undesirable food or location alone will not completely spoil the vacation as long as we can stay with close friends.
