托福写作预测2016年10月15日托福预测托福名师

1.All university students should be required to take basic science courses even if it is not the field of their study.
  Disagree
1.Taking basic science courses may be a waste of time and energy to some students.
•They are not interested in science. (e.g. students majoring in languages, literature, or history) – force them to take the science courses – unnecessary – Students are supposed to devote more time and energy to major courses.

2.Students may feel overwhelmed if they are required to take basic science courses.
Have to complete a large number of assignments and exams – may not do well in these courses – suffer from great pressure – have a negative impact on students’ physical and mental health

3.Requiring all students to take basic science courses will increase the financial burden of families and the university.
Families that are financially disadvantaged cannot afford the tuition.
The university has to hire more teachers. – The expenditure will increase dramatically. – The university only has limited budget.

4.让步段:
It is true that taking basic science courses can enhance students’ comprehensive knowledge. In this way, they can have competitive edge in the labor market. However, it does not mean that science courses should be compulsory. Instead, it is better to set them as elective courses, so that students can choose the courses according to their own interests and schedules.

  2.  Teachers should be paid according to how well their students perform.
  Disagree
  1.  This policy is unfair to teachers and will put much pressure on them.
Students’ academic performance can be affected by various factors other than teachers’ instruction, such as the efforts that the students have made, the time they have spent on study, and their intelligence. – should not blame teachers only – sap their motivation

2.Students are likely to suffer from great pressure and feel overwhelmed if teachers’ salaries are directly connected with students’ academic performance.
In order to gain higher salary, teachers may pay more attention to exam preparation and students’ scores rather than practical knowledge and skills. – memorize all the knowledge before exams and complete a large number of assignments –– have a negative impact on students’ development in the long run

3.让步段
It is true that various means should be used to motivate teachers to improve their quality of teaching. However, there are some other criteria to judge teachers’ performance other than students’ scores, such as the feedback from students and parents, or the papers and books teachers have published. In this way, we can develop a comprehensive understanding of teachers’ performance.

3.A leader should have strong opinions and do not change his or her mind on these opinions.
  Disagree
1.Collecting ideas from team members allows leaders to make better decisions.
Everyone has his or her own strengths and weaknesses, and even those intelligent, well-informed leaders have certain limitations. – think from different perspectives and embrace different ideas – make wise decisions based on the discussion.
VS stubborn and reject others’ opinions – fail to find the optimal plan for the team

2.Listening to others’ opinions enables leaders to develop a close rapport with team members.
Everyone wants his or her voice to be heard. – be respected and valued – win trust and support from team members – improve team morale – lead the team to achieve goals
VS dominant – Team members are unwilling to devote themselves to the team.

  4.  Taking care of pets brings important benefits to a child.
  Agree
1.Taking care of pets enables children to develop patience and a sense of responsibility.
They need to feed and bathe their pets and take them to the vet if the pets are ill. – understand how difficult their parents have brought them up

2.Children can have a companion if they have a pet.
Some career-driven parents are too busy to accompany their children and they often work overtime. – play and talk with their pets – will not feel lonely

3.Children can acquire a wide range of knowledge related to animals when they look after their pets.
E.g. know the animals’ living and eating habits, gain knowledge related to biology – broaden their horizons

  5. Professional athletes or performers should not be involved in politics.
  Disagree
1.Professional sports stars or movie stars are more likely to win support and trust from citizens.
Have popularity and reputation among the public because of their achievements or works – will be voted (e.g. Arnold Schwarzenegger)

2.Many athletes or actors have extraordinary talents, willpower and diligence.
They have made great efforts to succeed in their own fields. – are likely to use their skills to lead the country to success and bring social welfare to citizens (e.g. Ronald Reagan)

  3.让步段
It is true that athletes or performers may lack professional knowledge or experience of politics. However, they can improve their knowledge through education and practice. Therefore, they should be allowed to be involved in politics.

6.The advice from grandparents is of no use to their grandchildren because the world has changed a lot over the past 50 years.
  Disagree
1.Grandparents provide inspiring stories for their grandchildren.
Although the world has changed remarkably during the past 50 years, some basic qualities remain unchanged. (e.g. honesty, loyalty, persistence, respect to others) – Grandparents have more life experience and can share experience and set good examples for their children to follow. (e.g. study and work)

2.Grandparents can warn their grandchildren against going into the wrong direction.
The world has changed in some negative ways. – Since young people are mentally immature, they are likely to be misled and go astray. – Grandparents can provide constructive suggestions and help their grandchildren form right values towards life. (e.g. worship of money)
