Cue Cards Group1
　　Describe a person that you like to spend time with.

Sample answer:
　　The person I want to talk about is my best friend Sophie. In terms of her appearance, I have to say she is completely gorgeous and slim. And unlike other girls who wear makeup every day, she prefers natural beauty. She also has a good taste in clothes. She is an outgoing and understanding person. I know her because she is my roommate so we get to see each other a lot. I still remember the first time I saw Sophie. It was my first day at high school. I was cleaning the dorm room when she came in. We chatted for a while and soon discovered that we shared many interests. I guess that’s how we became friends. As for things we like to do together, every time there is a new movie coming out, me and my bestie will go to the cinema together because we are both movie buffs. And if we are not too busy with school, we’ll make some popcorn and have a fun movie night at my place. I like to spend time with her not only because she shares my interests but also because she is a good influence. She’s a positive person and always looks on the bright side of things. There was a time when we travelled to Thailand and it kept raining. I was very depressed by it, but she said the good news is that we can stay indoors and catch a Thai movie together. I instantly felt better. That’s why I like to be around her.

Sample answer:
　　I like being outdoors so I often visit parks and gardens. Hangzhou is filled with gardens, from small neighborhood parks to larger gardens like Hangzhou Botanical Garden. But I don’t like spending time in big gardens. They are usually too touristy. There is a small garden called Grand Canal Garden nearby. I go at least once a month. It’s a bit rundown but it’s my favorite park. As you can tell from its name, the park is located next to the famous Grand Canal and it’s only 5 minutes’ walk from my place. There’s so much to explore. There are ponds with lily pads, bridges in the ancient Chinese style and different kinds of trees and flowers. When it’s winter, you’ll see a lot of old people take photos of plum flowers. Personally, when I visit the garden, I like to walk around and enjoy the peace and quiet. It helps me clear my thoughts. It’s an escape from my busy life. As for why I like the garden, I guess this is because it brings back good memories from my childhood. When I was a kid, my dad always took me to Grand Canal Garden. We liked to feed the fish there. I always brought extra bread. When it’s springtime, my dad and I would have a picnic/catch butterflies/blow bubbles there. It was the perfect place for me and my dad to form a close bond.
