《老友记》（或译为<六人行>）于1994年9月22日开播，至2004年5月6日落幕，共10季236集。 故事设定在纽约曼哈顿的一个朋友圈子中，描述六个普通青年的情感起伏、事业波折和生活的喜怒哀乐，手携手一起走过十年风雨。而他们的生活细节却是那么真实，深深地吸引着众多电视观众。该剧拥有广大的收视群体，并收获普遍好评，每季的收视均位列年度前十，曾创造5300万人的单集收视纪录，其大结局亦吸引5250万人观看直播。全剧获得黄金时段艾美奖提名62项次，其间于2002年赢得喜剧类最佳剧集。美国《电视剧》杂志于2007年评出史上100大美剧，本剧登居榜首。

The American situation comedy Friends was first introduced to the public in 1994, and it aired for ten seasons. From 1994 to 2004, Friends received a considerable number of nominations and awards, and enjoyed a worldwide reputation in the last decades. It is often repeated on television stations. Even today people search ‘Friends’ in Google, it shows about 3,170,000,000 results, and most results are highly relevant to the show; when Chinese people type ‘Friends’ in the search engine Baidu, which is a widely used searched website in China, it shows about 25,000,000 results. The volume of search results indicates the continuous popularity of the show. What is more, there are lots of fan clubs worldwide, even though Friends was ended more than ten years ago.

‘Friends’ portrays six young Americans aged twenty-something who are living in New York City, and they are likely to find comfort and support within each other, since they struggle with career achievements and pursue happiness; friendship, relationship and family are constant themes in the Friends series.

What is more, ‘Friends’ is considered to be an ideal material for Chinese language learners, as many Chinese scholars have already done research in most aspects of ‘Friends’, and they intend to find feasible ways to enable Chinese EFL learners, especially the intermediate level learners to develop their language skills, such as listening, reading, writing and speaking.

《老友记》中共有六位常规主角贯穿全剧，且亦会有其他非常规配角在一季甚至是全十季中反复出现。作为这个系列的开篇，今天我们先回顾下这几位主人公吧：）

在第一季中，瑞秋私自逃婚之后开始了与莫妮卡在一起的室友生活。而至此之后瑞秋与罗斯在全十季中则经历了一段分分合合的恋情。

以其完美主义、爱使唤别人并且好胜心强的个性而为人熟知。莫妮卡在青少年时期极其肥胖，而这一点总是会被其他五人用来开玩笑，尤其是她的哥哥罗斯。她在整部剧中曾被许多餐馆聘为大厨。

亦自学吉他创作歌曲，最有名的原创作品是《臭臭猫》。菲比幼年时与母亲在纽约住宅区同住，而后来其母自杀，菲比只能在街上流浪。她深谙城市生存之道，并且在全剧中写就并演唱了不少离奇怪异的歌曲，而这些歌曲大多都辅以菲比的吉他伴奏。

热爱美食，在《我们的日子》中以德雷克·莫瑞医生一角成名。乔伊头脑简单，但是桃花运不断，整部剧中他有许多女朋友，但与他的关系大多都维持不了很长时间。若抛开他较为风流的一面不谈，乔伊也是六人中较为善良的一个，亦非常关心朋友。

一位大型跨国公司数据分析与重置部门的行政主管。钱德勒的家史较为奇怪：母亲是色情小说家，父亲则在拉斯维加斯表演变装秀。在剧中，钱德勒因其讽刺化的幽默以及恋爱中时常倒霉而为广大观众熟知。

在史前历史博物馆工作，职务是古生物学家；后来则在纽约大学任职，成为古生物学教授。尽管罗斯经常会脑筋不灵光，而且也不善于社交，但是却是位富有很强幽默感的可爱男人。在整部剧集中，罗斯与瑞秋经历了一段分分合合的恋情。
