托福阅读中艺术类文章怎么破？

艺术（Art）一词源自拉丁文ars，意为“技巧”，该词现在衍生出很多新的定义，不过不管出现多少新定义，都不能回避艺术这一词汇的原意。

美，在甲骨文和《说文解字》中查到，就是“羊人为美”、“羊大则美”，其意为戴着羊头面具的人是美，大的羊是美，说明美与人对事物的感受有直接联系。在原始社会里，羊肉可以食用，羊奶可以解渴，羊毛可以御寒，羊象征着使人愉快的事物，也就是说，凡是能够使人愉快的欣赏对象都可以叫“美”。

在我们的出国语言考试中，艺术历史类背景文本在雅思阅读和托福阅读中多次出现，这样的材料对于大多数理工科同学来说都非常头疼，学生往往会说：翻译成汉语我都不知道这篇文章想表达什么。比如剑10中一篇阅读对于博物馆陈列和艺术品真迹与再版的讨论，比如托福TPO40介绍The origins of writing, 提及了Assyrian亚述人；TPO42讲述古希腊雕塑，提到了August屋大维和Michelangelo。

托福阅读中艺术类文章怎么破？每当同学请教这个问题，我通常会讲“最短平快的见效方法就是记忆学科词汇”，然而当我们把承载着大师们天赋与情感的艺术仅仅用几个抽象名词表示的时候，可能是最拙劣的方法。所以，在时间允许的情况下，如果能接触艺术，适当看几次展览，可能事半功倍。
