雅思阅读的长难句一直是困扰同学们的一大难题,今天我们就剑桥中同学们经常会觉得难以理解的句子进行梳理,期望帮助大家在理解句子,阅读文章中扫除障碍,更好更快的解题。
例:
Milgram’s experimental set-up involved placing the teacher-subject before a panel of thirty switches with labels ranging from ’15 volts of electricity (slight shock)’ to ‘450 volts (danger - severe shock)’ in steps of 15 volts each.
部分同学可能初看到这个句子,会把experimental当主语,理所当然的认为set-up是一个动词词组是谓语,认为这句话讲的是实验建立。可是我们仔细分析一下,就会发现我们的主干找的有问题,首先单词以-al结尾一般属于形容词后缀,是不可以做主语的,接着set up中间有连字符,词性也转为名词。因此experimental并未当主语,而是在修饰主语set-up,involve才是谓语,placing the teacher-subject整个动宾短语做宾语
因此这句话主要是讲方案包含的内容,句子整理分析如下:
Milgram’s experimental set-up [主语] involved [谓语] placing the teacher-subject [宾语] before a panel of thirty switches [宾语补足语] with labels [定语] ranging form ’15 volts of electricity (slight shock)’ to ‘450 volts (danger – severe shock)’ [定语] in steps of 15 each.
整个句子整理翻译为Milgram的实验布置包括:将充当教师的实验对象安排在一个有着三十个开关的仪表盘面前,这些开关贴有标签,从15伏特电力(轻度电击)到450伏特电力(危险-重度电击)不等,每一个开关提高15伏特。

很多同学看到这句话会比较懵,原因一to this notion of genetic programming 没看出来在修饰alternative,要理解为对于基因编码相关概念的另一种看大,其次在于see…as这个固定搭配不认识,没有理解为把…看作,而认为as 是和a result of连在一起,理解为由于,因此该句读起来就会混乱。因此该剧的表语to see action as a result of social environment,应该理解为将行为看作是社会环境的结果,而后面的under+引导词则是定语从句修饰社会环境,该句整理之后如下:
