专家解读：转折信号词在雅思阅读中的用处

转折信号词的作用是否定前面的观点，肯定后面句子的观点。表示转折关系的词有：but，however，whereas，in fact，on the contrary，conversely，on the other hand等。在阅读前半句时就可以预测后半句的大意，使接下来的阅读过程变成求证，如同把文章读了两遍。另外，如果在有生词的情况下，只要理解了半句话的意思，就可以推测到另一半句子的含义。

比如原文剑桥5 Test3  Passage1
　　Early childhood education, paragraph E, by the age of 3, the children .......more advanced in ...., had made greater strides in...., and were further along in social development. In fact, the average child in the programme was performing at the level of the top 15 to 20 percent of their peers in such things as auditory comprehension, verbal ability and language ability.
　　题目为
　　Most Missouri programme three-year-olds scored highly in areas such as listening, speaking, reasoning and interacting with others.

解题： in fact为转折信号词，故这之后为重点，是作者想强调的观点，这样我们就可以注意到小孩子在三个方面做的比同龄年人好，分别是听力理解，口语能力和语言能力。正好对应题目里面的听力，口语，推理和交流。故答案是True.
　　再比如：
　　剑桥6 test1 passage2 paragraph A，while the global economy has been expanding at a bit over3%, the volume of trade has been rising at a compound annual rate of about twice that.

以上列出来的都是有转折词的句子，并且问题考到当句话的情况。 其实远远不止这几句。但是能从里面看出来，转折词考到的文章中句子概率还是很大的。我们需要引起高度重视。
