【范文】:

Successful people prefer to attempt new things and take risks rather than do what they have always done well. I prefer this opinion. Without trying out new things, people cannot improve themselves and expand their horizons. Therefore, successful people are fond of challenging themselves and taking risks.

To begin with, new things promote people’s abilities to deal with trouble. Taking chances always accompanies challenges. When people tackle arduous troubles, they obtain much knowledge and experience. In other words, after they have dealt with the hard troubles and emerged victorious, they will know how to solve the problems next time and they will also have the determination to accept more demanding challenges. The one who experiences a lot is able to tread the way of to success. Therefore, successful people are fond of trying out things that they have never done before because they reckon that these challenges are necessary for discovering and improving their abilities.

Next, attempting new things expand ken of people. If people only focus on what they can do well instead of testing out new things, what they currently know would then be very limited. Whereas for people who are willing to do new things frequently, they have seen various things and have the abilities to accomplish different sorts of goals. For example, my uncle, a successful manager, always shows his interest in new things. Despite the fact that his company is doing well, he is still unsatisfied with the situation. He always seeks new ways to progressively change and prosper, which lead to the big success of his business because of broadened perspective. Therefore, trying out new things actually provides other chances because you see something different, which serves as inspiration and opportunity.

Last but not least, attempting new things can develop people`s characteristics. After dealing with knotty problems, people can be braver and more confident. Facing immense difficulties and then finding solutions to solve them, people will know the essence of failure, persistence, and joy. For example, Thomas Edison, who experienced hundreds of failures when doing his inventions, became adequately strong and determined. Besides, failures that are brought about by trying out new things make people humble. Although Edison became famous, he still kept inventing new things, never resting on his laurels. Finally, he became one of the most famous inventors in the world and was immortalized in the annals of human history. So attempting new things can make people stronger, more powerful, and the most important of all, humble, especially after facing thousands of failures. Through these, successful people are born.

To sum up, people who experience new things and take quantities of risks have the opportunities of strengthening their abilities, widening their horizons, and making their characters better. All of these are necessary for a successful life and career.
