雅思写作小作文的倍数该如何表达？

雅思写作一般是图表题，线状图和饼状图会经常出现倍数增长的情况，那么大家对英语中倍数表达的方式清楚吗？表达增长我们会使用increase， rise， go up这类动词，但是如果作文中恰好出现倍数关系，该如何表达呢？

倍数基础表达法：

①A +is…times +as+ adj.原级+as +B

②A +is…times+ adj.比较级+than +B

③A +is…times+ the size/length/height/width/depth +of + B

④The size/length/height/width/depth… +of+ A+ is…times of +B

⑤The +n.…+is …times+ what从句

这张桌子是那张桌子的三倍大。

This table is 3 times as big as that one.

This table is 3 times bigger than that one.

This table is 3 times the size of that one.

The size of this table is 3 times of that one.

今年的产量是2006年的3倍。

The output of this year is 3 times what it was in 2006.

倍数高级表达法：

(1)…是原来的…倍：数字 + -fold

(2)…增长或者下降了…倍: 数字-1 + -fold

…shows / experiences / witnesses/ undergo a three-fold increase / rise / decrease / reduction

是原来的3倍 / 增加或减少了2倍

在倍数表达中，有几种表达方式都是等价的，它们分别是：

1.倍数+as...as

2.倍数+比较级+than

3.倍数+the+名词+of

This bridge is three times as wide as that one.（这座桥是那座桥的三倍宽。）

=This bridge is twice wider than that one.（这座桥比那座桥宽两倍。）

=This bridge is three times width of that one.（这座桥的宽度是那座桥的三倍。）

例句：

1，过去十年，核能所占的比例已经由之前的5%增长到现在的10%。

Over the past decade, the percentage of nuclear power increased by 5% to 10%. 或者用double

Over the past decade, nuclear power doubled（此时用作动词） its percentage from 5% to 10%. 这样可以增加句子的灵活度，也显示自己的语法范畴宽泛。

2，农业用水由1900年的500km3 增长至现在2000km3.

Water used in agriculture is 4 times as much as that in 1900(500km3).

Water usage in agriculture is 3 times more than that in 1900 (500km3).

Agriculture quadrupled its usage from 500km3 in 1900 to 2000km3 at present.

在写作中注意，当作文中表示增长的词（increase， rise，go up ）已经使用过，而且前后恰好对比的倍数关系的时候，用double triple 或者quadruple就显得比较灵活，而且表达准确，更能为自己作文加分。
