1. 专业概述

物流管理(Logistics Management)，也叫“供应链管理(Supply Chain Management)”，是指在社会再生产过程中，根据物质资料实体流动的规律，应用管理的基本原理和科学方法，对物流活动进行计划、组织、指挥、协调、控制和监督，使各项物流活动实现最佳的协调与配合，以降低物流成本，提高物流效率和经济效益。如今，物流管理的专业知识被运用在贸易上，联系了整个世界。

物流与供应链管理按照不同的分支方向可主要分为一下三类：

偏重物流&供应链管理方法：MIT的该专业硕士设在Sloan 商学院里面，在System Design and Management Program里面有专门的supply chain供应链方向。在博士研究中，也有专门的operation management和Center for Transportation & Logistics供选择。MIT的这个专业侧重制造业和交通领域的研究，申请难度非常大，比较适合工科背景的学生或者在制造业有工作经验的申请者。

偏重供应链分析与研究：比如哥伦比亚大学这个专业就没有设置在商学院下面，而是在工程学院的工业工程系里，并且开设有Engineering Management Systems工程管理系统的专业方向。主要学习物流、供应链，以及预算管理方面的分析，非常重视工科背景，先要学习确定性和随即性两个模型，然后学习质量控制、产品生产计划、预测、仿真等课程。

MBA项目中一个分支方向：UPenn的Wharton商学院一直名声在外，这个学校的MBA项目里Marketing and Operations Management中的有专门的供应链分支，主要学习内容也是与供应量相关的供应链管理、新产品管理、物流管理等课程。另外在MBA下还有一个Operations and Information Management中也有供应链分支，不过这个方向主要与制造业相关，主要研究制造业和运输领域的物流供应链和相关信息系统管理。

侧重与管理方面的第一类大部分学校不要求申请者有工作经验，但是要去申请者要具备管理专业背景。第二类侧重数理分析和研究，所以申请者最好要具有工科背景，或者理工科背景，如果能有相关的研究或项目经历，对申请会有很大帮助。第三类因为都是在MBA下，所以申请者至少需要一年半至两年的全职工作经验。总体来说，如果你有工作经验，那么申请管理方面或者MBA下的物流与供应链专业比较适合;如果你数理背景强，有一定的计算机编程知识，但没有工作经验，适合申请工程学院下面的物流专业。

1) 学制

通常是30-39学分(10-13门课程)，1-2年修读完。

2) 先修课程

设置在商学院下的通常对学生的本科背景没有要求，一般申请者有修读过大学级别的微积分、线性代数等数学课程就好，有修读过统计等对申请有帮助。以下是Case Western Reserve U 的先修课程要求

Applicants are required to have taken two calculus courses at the college level and one course in linear algebra. A course in statistics is strongly preferred.
