表演专业属于一级艺术学科，表演专业旨在培养具有一定的基本理论素养，并具备和掌握表演艺术的基本理论和基本技巧，能够在、、、和等表演中独立完成不同人物形象创作的高级专门人才。

该专业学生主要学习戏剧、戏曲、影视、舞蹈、音乐等方面基本知识、基本理论和基本技能，接受有关理论、发展历史、研究现状等系统教育和从事专业工作所需业务能力的基本训练。

美国是艺术最为发达的国家，例如纽约，芝加哥，洛杉矶等，表演专业强势院校也多设立在这几个州。例如哥伦比亚大学，纽约大学，南加州大学，加州大学洛杉矶，西北大学等。

表演专业申请要求：
1.本科期间优秀的学习能力；
2.语言能力，流利的口语表达，一般建议托福90+
3.表演经历
4.社会活动，例如志愿者
5.视镜，国际生初试可以录制视频上传（耶鲁大学必须现场面试）；复试需要现场面试。视镜一般要求一个当代和一个古典的对白，限时2分钟；（耶鲁大学5分钟）。

哥大视镜要求：

1.A full-sized (8.5” x 11”) headshot in a high resolution format.

2.Two audition pieces. An audition. Please present two (2) contrasting monologues, one classical and one contemporary, each lasting one (1) to one and a half (1 1/2) minutes long. 

*International applicants have the option of submitting an audition video or auditioning in person. The video option is offered in order to alleviate the burden and expense of international travel for applicants. However, any international student who is invited to the final callback weekend in New York must attend in person. Applicants can select only one of the options--in person or on video. All auditions are required to be presented in English.

Audition schedule:

New York City: January 17 - January 19, 2020

Chicago: February 4 - February 5, 2020

San Francisco: February 8 - February 9, 2020

International auditions (NYC): March 6, 2020

Callbacks (NYC): March 7 – March 8, 2020

西北大学视镜：

Live auditions will be held annually in January through the University/Regional Theatre Association’s (URTA) national cooperative platform in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. 

Auditions are held exclusively through URTA and the program does not offer private auditions.

Prospective students do not need to submit an application to The Graduate School until after URTA auditions have completed.

耶鲁大学视镜：
All acting applicants, including those living abroad, who meet the M.F.A. or Certificate requirements must audition in person according to the schedule. Applicants who have auditioned three times without being offered admission are discouraged from re-applying to the Acting program. Only one application and one audition per admissions cycle is permitted.

Each candidate must present two memorized audition pieces for the audition: one piece from a modern or contemporary play and one piece in verse from any period of dramatic literature. The total time of this presentation should not exceed five minutes. We strongly advise candidates to come with two other pieces prepared - one in verse and one modern/contemporary - in case members of the Audition Committee request to see additional material.

At the end of each audition day, a candidate may be asked to return for a callback session, so that the Admissions Committee can learn more about you and your work presented. During the callback, a candidate may be asked to sing a song, and to work with members of the Committee on their prepared pieces. A candidate may also be interviewed during the callback. Applicants should not request and will not be given an oral or written critique, either at the time of the audition or at a later date.

Once the first round of auditions is completed, approximately 30 applicants are invited to Yale School of Drama for a two-day callback session. During this time, candidates for acceptance have the opportunity to meet and take classes with faculty, talk with current students and department administrators, and learn more about the School of Drama and the city of New Haven. The Acting department pays travel expenses and provides accommodations in New Haven for those who are called back. The dates for final callback auditions are: February 29, March 1 and 2, 2020. Sixteen actors are selected to become members of the first-year class, once the final callback auditions have ended.
